The global wood trade continues to grow and is on course to be worth $450 billion by 2020. That’s good for jobs and prosperity, but too often the trade is linked to illegal logging, forest destruction, corruption, rights abuses, and vast greenhouse gas emissions.

TFT set up in 1999 to help furniture companies establish transparent wood supply chains linked to responsible forestry operations in South East Asia. Our Member companies, sourcing furniture in Vietnam, were the first to achieve this, and inspired many other companies in the region to take the same approach.

Today, we continue to partner companies to source wood products responsibly. We support community-based projects to improve timber production and gain access to international markets, and we help retailers to comply with the European Timber Regulation.
